Pope Francis say it is, “good to think back on our lives with the grace of remembrance,” because, “the grace of remembrance helps us to grow in the spirit of gratitude.” As 2021 draws to a close, it is good to set aside some time, to reflect on the year we have lived, bringing to mind the people we have encountered, our conversations, events, relationships, sorrows and joys. Why not, in the coming week, ask God for the gift of the spirit of gratitude, and write a prayer giving thanks to God’s for his ever faithful presence with you, in his son Jesus, our hope and comfort. Place the year ahead, the challenges and blessings which will come, before God, trusting in the words from Jeremiah,
Yes, I know what plans I have in mind for you, the Lord declares, plans for peace, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. When you call to me and come and pray to me, I shall listen to you. (Jeremiah 29:11-12)
