Saint Pope John Paull II, on 13 May 2000, said: “A message of conversion and hope has spread from Fatima which is the true Gospel of Christ presented anew to our generation.” The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three children in Portugal on the 13th of each month from May to October in 1917. Our Lady appeared to Lucia, age 9, Blessed Francisco Marto, age 8, and Blessed Jacinta Marto, age 6, while they were tending sheep; they described her as “a woman all in white, more brilliant than the sun.” Our Lady asked that prayers be said for the conversion of sinners. Our Lady of Fatima is also known as Lady of the Rosary (she called herself that when Lucia asked her name) She asked for devotion to the Holy Trinity, and for praying the Rosary daily for world peace.
