Comgall – Abbot

Published: May 10, 2022

Comgall was the founder and abbot of the great Irish monastery at Bangor  in the province of Ulster. He still appears at the top of the town’s official coat of arms. Comgall wrote a Rule for his monks which was quite severe, but its kernel is said to have been: “Love Christ and hate wealth”.
