"Let your faith mature through your studies, work, sport, music and art. Let it be sustained by prayer and nurtured by the sacramants, and thus be a source of inspiration and help to those around you. Life is not about accumulation, it is much more than success. To be truly alive is to be transformed from within, open to the energy of God's love. In accepting the power of the Holy Spirit you can transform your families, communities and nations".
(Pope Benedict XVI, Vigil of World Youth Day, Sydney, July 2008)

The ‘Derry Diocesan Youth Choir’ is a new initiative for young people in our diocese and a wonderful opportunity for them to participate in an exciting faith experience that will enhance the Liturgy for young and old alike. Its mission is to provide another opportunity for young people to express their faith and engage in the life of the Church.

The Pope John Paul II Award is a new and exciting award for those aged 16-18yrs.  The award requires young people to get actively involved in their parish and community and contribute in a positive way to the life of the Church.  The award highlights the vibrant role young people have to play in our Church today and the wonderful skills and talents they can bring to enhance the liturgy and reach out in service to others. This award is voluntary, flexible and doesn’t require too much time from young people.

The Diocesan Youth Co-ordinator works closely with schools, parishes and youth groups to support, plan and implement new initiatives and faith development opportunities for young people from the four deanery areas of our diocese. Young people are regularly invited to engage in faith based initiatives and activities.

There are many programmes available for faith development and formation with young people. Below are a few that the centre will be happy to help facilitate in conjunction with a parish.
