Knock Summer Youth Festival 2010

The Knock Summer Festival is here again and this year's theme is "Walk By Faith". The festival is sure to be the best to date.

Knock Shrine will hold the festival from the 25th-27th of June 2010. The weekend of the festival will see giant marquees erected outside the basilica on the Knock Shrine grounds.

Who Goes: All people between the ages of 18-35 years. The festival is a chance to step out of the busyness of life and take some time out for you.

What will be happening? Just like any of the other festivals that take place this summer. Knock have a programme packed with things that are happening over the weekend. There will be talks, workshops, share groups, music, myme, dance, drum, reconciliation and healing service, prayer, reflection and loads of chill out time.

Who will be speaking?

Sr. Helen Prejean, the author of the book 'Dead man walking' which went on to be turned into a film and bagged Susan Sarandon her Oscar. She is an inspirational and engaging speaker. Sr. Helen will talk about her journey in life and also concentrate on how Jesus challenges us today.

Other speakers include Dr. Andrew O Connoll, Brian Mc Kee, Br. Shawn O Connor, Fr. Donagh O Shea, Fr. Conall O Cuinn, Pat Reynolds and Fr. John Harris.

Workshops that will take place over the weekend will be drumming, dance, clay and pottery, music, scripture, struggles in life and love and relationships. Facilitators will include Sli Eile, Trocaire, Don King and Psalm Drummers.

Last year over 500 people attended the festival in Knock and the atmosphere at the Shrine was electric. The cost of the weekend is €70, this includes all your food, accommodation and access to everything that is happening over the weekend. There will be buses coming from all over Ireland.
