‘The Magnificat’ – Anne Marie Hickey

Published: December 8, 2020

As we journey through Advent, it is important to take time and reflect on the gift of Mary, our Mother. Pope Francis says of Mary, β€˜She teaches us the way of holiness and she walks ever at our side.’ In honour of Mary, our Mother, our Thought for the Week, is a beautiful rendition of John Michael Talbot’s Magnificat by Anne Marie Hickey, accompanied by Trevor Burnside. As we prepare our hearts to celebrate the birth of our Saviour at Christmas, we encourage you to listen to the words and to reflect on how through Mary’s example of total trust in God, we too can find, ‘the way to holiness.’

Anne Marie Hickey is a parishioner of Saint Eugene’s Cathedral, Derry and sings in the Cathedral Choir. Anne Marie attended the McCafferty School of music, trained with Dr Veronica Dunn and now runs the Hickey School of Music. She works at the Derry Diocesan Catechetical Centre.
